Reflexology and Me

I am so excited to say that I am now a fully qualified Reflexology Practitioner offering Reflexology Treatments in Buckhurst Hill and surrounding areas for my wonderful clients!

I started having reflexology treatments when I was pregnant with my son Theo and I couldn’t believe the dreamy, floaty feeling I was left with post-treatment; I just couldn’t wait to book in again! It was the most relaxed I think I had ever felt, and during pregnancy this was no mean feat (pun intended).

I was so intrigued by the idea of treating our feet to encourage our bodies to self-heal and regain its natural balance. I actually think I got a bit hooked! Fast forward just over two years and I am now a fully qualified Reflexology Practitioner and am excited to start booking in my first clients!

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-invasive holistic therapy which aims to deeply relax and ease congestion in the body through treating reflex points in the feet. Reflexology works on the premise that our feet are ‘mini maps’ for the body, and that through easing congestion in reflex points on our feet, this encourages our body to restore balance and to heal itself. I aim for my reflexology treatments to be deeply relaxing for my clients, and I use waxes or aloe vera cream to nourish and moisturise the feet.

How Can Reflexology Help My Body?

In the past, my Reflexology Therapist has managed to ease reflex points on my feet that relate to tension in my teeth and jaw following dental work, headache tension following an intense time at work and also a flailing immune system just before I came down with the flu. I don’t want to make it seem like Reflexologists are Psychic Healers on the one hand, or Doctors on the other; this is clearly not the case! It’s just so fascinating to learn how our feet can provide an insight into the goings-on of our insides; both our physical and mental health.

Reflexology can provide different benefits to different people. Whatever your reason for booking, whether it be to help you sleep, to help ease your headaches, to help relax a tense digestive system, to help you switch off from the world, or just to help you enjoy someone pampering your feet and supporting your important self-care for an hour; this is your treatment, and I am here to help!

Studying for my Reflexology Qualification

I started my training in January 2019 at the London School of Massage, where I had previously completed training for my Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy and also my Diploma in Pregnancy Massage Therapy. It felt so good to be back there and to meet new therapists, many of whom were also extending their skills from massage across to reflexology.

The course was so interesting, the lectures and further reading were really fascinating and I found it easy to get lost for hours in the findings and theories behind reflexology. It was pretty intense though! Four months back from maternity leave and straight into an intense 6-month study course for a new qualification alongside my normal working hours and being a mama. Aside from the exam and the course itself I had to complete 100 case study hours of practise time. I’m so glad I did it but I’m not going to lie, it was tough at times! So you can probably see why I am so delighted to have passed, and to start treating you all. Did I mention that I’m excited?!
