Reflexology and Me

Reflexology Treatments in Buckhurst Hill, Essex. Packages and special offers also available below. Pregnancy and Post-Natal Reflexology Treatment also available.

Lovely room, Jo is friendly & professional, knows her stuff inside out, & is great at making you feel relaxed & comfortable ( the reflexology hasn’t started yet!)
From the heated couch cover, the hot towels for my feet, the frankincense oil wax, background music just right, once the reflexology started Jo asked me about pressure, which was perfect for me, and I drifted into the zone, not awake nor sleeping aware of the deep relaxation but not wishing to sleep (I’d miss the treatment) My back & hips feel freer which is what i had hoped for, lovely session & looking forward to my next treatment already. Lovely touch with the goody bag too!

A Note from Jo…

After enjoying reflexology treatments while pregnant with my son Theo, I became fascinated by reflexology and the way in which it helped me to relax. I just couldn’t believe the dreamy, floaty feeling I was left with post-treatment, and I was so intrigued by the idea of treating our feet to encourage our bodies to regain balance and self-heal.

I absolutely loved my reflexology training, and subsequent pre and post natal reflexology training too. The learning was so different to my massage learnings, and I find it so interesting mixing between the two practises. There are so many varied reasons why my clients are drawn to reflexology, and I continue to love learning more and more from each treatment I do.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-invasive holistic therapy which aims to deeply relax and ease congestion in the body through treating reflex points in the feet. Reflexology works on the premise that our feet are ‘mini maps’ for the body, and that through easing congestion in reflex points on our feet, this encourages our body to balance and heal itself.

I aim for my reflexology treatments to be deeply relaxing for my clients, and I use waxes to nourish and moisturise the feet.

Pregnancy and Post-Natal Reflexology

As I said above, I came to enjoy reflexology during my own pregnancy, and I am so delighted to support local mamas through their own path into parenthood and beyond with my pre and post-natal treatments.

These treatments not only aim to provide relaxation for you and your baby, but will also focus on any current aches, pains and ailments you may be living with both during, and after, your pregnancy.

We take time at the start and end of the treatment for a consultation to make sure these appointments are tailored to your current needs. I use Songbird waxes or cornflour to build up the appropriate pressure for your feet, depending on your conditions and preferences. We have lots of pillows to make you feel comfortable and supported…and cosy!

I trained in pre and post-natal reflexology with Louise Keet at London School of Reflexology.

Benefits of Reflexology

Reflexology is intended to be an incredibly relaxing treatment, and can provide a wonderful escape from the stresses and pressures of daily life. While some clients may book in for a one-off relaxation session during a particularly stressful time, or to help with a particular health issue, others book regularly as a way of maintaining their important self-care.

In addition to deep relaxation, reflexology may also help to restore balance for clients who may be struggling with:

  • Interrupted sleep patterns

  • Stress and anxiety

  • Headaches and migraines

  • IBS and digestive disorders

  • Hormone-related changes such as PMS or perimenopause

  • Neck and/or back and shoulder tension

Please note: Depending on your medical conditions, you may be required to gain consent from your Doctor before your reflexology session. If you have any conditions that you think may prevent you from having a reflexology treatment, please contact Jo in advance to double check. Please also note that reflexology should only ever compliment medical advice and should not be used as a replacement for medical attention.

I look forward to treating your feet and to bringing you some relaxation soon!

Take care,
Jo,
